Hi! In this post I have started to use another form of abbreviation of Google Earth Community Forums. Simply I have let Community but taken Forum and created: GEF. Many times I have already thought to mention that in my language 'gec' is a short form of a pretty nasty word. GEC: always been a thorn in my eye. On the other hand: Some of you remember when it really was a Community, whaz more; a GENation with 'millions' of users now stays a pretty cool Forum (except, we do not go layer), so thought I might use GEF or GEForum. Then I thought, before I start to write GEFs everywhere I have to ask you whether any of you have any bad thoughts about 'gef'? Thanks, g

I doubt if anyone will object to your using GEF (if your context makes clear what you're talking about) or even writing out Google Earth Community in full. I don't think GEC has any official standing except its common usage, and I'm afraid it's way too late to change that, especially in the old forum, where it was used thousands of times and where changes can no longer be made.
If you honestly think that any of your compatriots would be offended because an abbreviation in one language spells something unmentionable in another, I'll be happy in future to use OGEC and NGEC, but in the Age of Trump I don't this that suggestion will gain much traction.
