Although I counted as many as thirteen different street views of the statue since 2007, they never get any clearer than this: So I replaced the statue with an actor who played the character: Non-revealing SV image please.

A clue seems to be in order. This whalelike man is the protagonist of a novel. (I have known about it for decades, but I have only now started reading it, and it’s great and very funny.)

Here is another clue: The novel is set in this city. The writer lived there and knew it well.
