Moving from Google Earth to Maps freezes the screen

Hello

I have been using Goole Earth/Maps for years at a basic level.
Yesterday when I tried to go from Earth to Maps using the "View in Google Maps" icon the screen goes to Lite mode with a blue "Search Google Maps" insert in the top left corner of the map and freezes up.
The map square in the bottom left corner is still there, but does not respond and the same goes for the Lite flash.
What is going on, what am I missing?

Hi, I've answered Martin here, but for anyone else reading this, it is indeed a problem with the new version of Google Earth on Windows.  It's been reported to Google.
