Since Villaman does his researches for some genetics institute in Geneva he has less sparetime and seldom we keep contact.
Some 2 years ago however -when we have last met- he gave me permission to repost his older works also to edit them if needed.
Two reasons I have not posted only a link to the oGEC posting by him on Best of oGEC cathegory:
1.: file updated with more stations of the journey and routes added which are represent some approximate path as based on GE route planner data.
2.: Villaman has given only in hungarian language so here I do an attempt to translate the ending quotation by Széchenyi István.
***
"A poor hungarian orphan, without applause and cheer, but heated by
persistent patriotism - Alexander Csoma de Kőrös - had been searched for craddle of
the Magyar, under pressure of his lassitudes lastly has shattered. Far from homeland
he sleeps his eternal dream, but still lives in hearts of all better hungarian.
Not the situation itself, no treasure protects a nation, but
unbreakable love for motherland, self-denial of a pilgrim and will made of steel.
You rich and wealthy people of our country take example of an orphan boy, and
be loyal magyars by your deeds, not by only words; by volition to make sacrifice,
not by cheap boast!" / István Széchenyi - 1858.
For better understanding of the subject also advise to download the Historical Hungary border line set kmz.

Kőrösi Csoma Sándor – or as he signed
in western name order: Alexander Csoma de Kőrös –
was born in 1784, in Transylvania, in the village of
Kőrös, part of Háromszék county, Hungary (today Chiurus, Romania).
In 1819 he started his long jouney on foot toward
Tibet to find the ancient homeland of Hungarians.
He was the first European who studied the Tibetian
culture by living among the Tibetians. Sándor Kőrösi
Csoma became the embodyment of Buddhist ideal:
a bodhissatva, a hero of awakening, able for the great deed:
he opened the door for the world towards Buddhism.
Sándor Kőrösi Csoma was not able to etch his name in
the history of scholarship as the discoverer of the ancient
Hungarian homeland. He figures there instead as an explorer
of an unknown civilization and as the founder of a new branch
of scholarship, that of Tibetan studies. This is how he finally won
recognition for himself, and through his tireless efforts, he won
a degree of recognition for the Hungarian people as well.

"Egy szegény árva magyar, pénz és taps nélkül, de elszánt kitartó
hazafiságtól lelkesítve - Kőrösi Csoma Sándor - bölcsőjét kereste a
magyarnak, és végre összeroskadt fáradalmai alatt. Távol a hazától
