I have multiple (hundreds) of 'places' that were imported from another user. These are earthquakes & fracking well locations etc.. that I no longer wish to retain. Other than deleting them (right clicking/ delete) one at a time - I can find no mass delete technique that works. Due to the large number of them, this is a daunting task. Does anyone know how to delete multiple selections at once? Or does anyone know the location of the 'places' data file for editing? Please advise. Many thanks.

When you say you have hundred of places imported by another user, do you mean you have downloaded a kml/kmz file from a post/placemark in Google Earth?
If so please attach.

Hi, are these placemarks in a folder? If so you can delete the folder. I'm guessing you didn't import them individually, so it should be possible to delete the folder that contains them. There is no multi selection in Google Earth. Your my places file is kept in your profile: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Google\GoogleEarth\myplaces.kml (Windows XP) C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Google\GoogleEarth\myplaces.kml (Vista) C:\users\username\appData\LocalLow\Google\GoogleEarth\myplaces.kml (Windows10, Windows 8, Windows 7 and later installations on Vista) You'll need to display hidden files to find it. This is explained here: Retrieving and moving your placemarks file (also for Mac). Do you have anything in your My Places that you want to keep? You can right click your My Places and select "Delete contents". Whether you want to do that depends on what else you have in there. If there's not much you want to keep, you can right click the items you do want to keep, "Save place as", to your computer, then open them again once you've deleted the contents of your My Places.
