Hi everyone , some time ago to now have had some time to re-take the search for aircraft in flight at GE, and have found a couple of hundred of them that are not posted, nor in the collection of aircraft flight, which is maintained by NormB, so I will make a post and within it will be posting the other aircraft.

It's a small world!



Beginning tomorrow, we're expecting at least 4 days of rain, so this morning I wanted to take my bicycle ride somewhere I'd never been, and I decided to ride around Yao Airport. I'm attaching the tour I made (you'll want to turn on the 3D Buildings Layer for full effect). There's a link in the balloon to a few not-very-interesting pictures I took.



There's not too much going on there. The whole time I was riding around (almost an hour) the only flight I saw was a commercial helicopter taking off. The Japan Self Defense Force has a big installation there. I was passed by several men in uniform on bikes and scooters as I dawdled along looking at stuff. I think there may be 4 Huey helicopters parked there, and a very large fleet of motor vehicles. I counted just 20 private light aircraft, although I could see some in the hangers. There was a little excitement this spring when 4 people were killed in a crash, but if it weren't for Google Earth, I'd hardly know it was there.

If Yamla is reading this, I've overlaid a 3-view silhouette to demonstrate another technique for confirming an aircraft's identity.  In my experience, light aircraft are by far the most difficult to ID.  Military aircraft tend to be the most distinctive and are generally quite easy to ID, given a reasonable image.  Commercial Airliners are more difficult, but there are only a few volume manufacturers, so they're usually quite easy to research.  OTOH, almost every country with an industrial base has its own light aircraft manufacturer(s), plus the smallness of the image in GE makes it even more difficult to pick out any distinguishing features.

Washi, kudos on the bike ride.  I prefer to have a 1500cc engine attached to my bikes!
