While using Google Earth to find the Great Falls viewing area on the Potomac River in Maryland, I came across the attached odd image of what appears to be a multi-colored jet aircraft on the Potomac River near Carderock. I reported it on the Send Feedback page but thought I'd post it here as well. Does anyone have any idea how it got there? I've never come across an image like it before. The lat/lon in the lower right of the attached image is that of the aircraft location. Thanks.

In this community we use kmz file. Go Here >> Very basic placemarks and post help << Thank you.

Congratulations on finding your first Plane in Flight.
There are many Planes in flight on GE at any given time, and as you could imagine, as the imagery changes so do the number of captures.
It might appear that this plane is only meters off the ground but it is probably quite high, following a set flight path.
The "Shadow" is caused by the motion and speed of the plane and the effect from satellite pictures captured. It is quite normal.
Check out the Transportation Forum for a post called Planes in Flight and you can see many other finds that have been made into a collection.
Cheers.

Thanks, TheLedge! That did cross my mind but the colors threw me so I thought it was fake.

The "Shadow" is caused by the motion and speed of the plane and the effect from satellite pictures captured. It is quite normal. That multicolored "shadow" is created due to how the images are captured on that satellite and then processed. Moving flying objects (closer to the camera) combined with movement of the satellite itself generates the colour correction errors.
