Huge man-made structures in Egyptian desert

Does anyone know what this is? It's ~1400 ft on a side, with a raised 'X' inside a raised circle in the middle. Also - there are several more strange man-made structures ~2000 ft due north. Some of them resemble birds or fighter jets inside circles.

Any ideas?

p.s. This is my first post, so please forgive me if I missed something. I didn't see any other place-marks for many miles in any direction.

I was kind of hoping that someone out there in the GEC might be willing to venture a guess!  Anyone?

well, if you ever return to this forum and still want a guess, probably this is some kind of military practice area.
Circle-cross feature on my recent find soviet-era firing range and bombing practice field made me remember somehow to those planes (or plane symbols) in circles above your mark.

similar ground scars and bombshells around, and take a look of that amount of wehicle tracks everywhere leading tens of kms into the big nothing.
maybe tank or other military wehicle tracks - a jeep or SUV, not even a rally-car i think could follow these tracks on the rough surface.

that is all from me, waiting for some validation or other explanation as well.
