In most of Malheur ("mal hyur," and not some of the misguided pronunciation we've heard in the news media since New Year's) County, once you get out of the Snake River Valley, nothing (and I mean NOTHING) is very close to anything else. Your stock pond is about 18 miles from Jorden Valley, Oregon, but Jorden, Oregon, is almost 300 miles to the west northwest, in Linn County, on the mossback side of the state.
We eastside hicks are rather sensitive, and it hurts our feelings when you don't take time to get it right.
