Short Sunderlands at Chatham 1940.kmz (848 B) 1940 Historical Imagery These are 4 Short Sunderland aircraft moored near Chatham Naval Dockyard on the River Medway east of London. Built by Shorts of Belfast, famous for a long series of successful flying boats in the 1930s, these were large aircraft particularly suited to long-distance maritime patrol, air-sea rescue, and anti-submarine work. Nice find Frank, but why was you poking around 1940's Chatham I wonder? I did see some aircraft flying somewhere but be blowed if I can find them now

Nice to see you here, Neil, and now I know where to find Frank when he disappears - in his time machine in 1940 Chatham! I would love to see one of those beauties take off one day. Or be in it, preferably.
