Google self-driving car pulled over by cop

A Google self-driving car was pulled over by police because the vehicle was traveling too slowly, officials said.



The officer in Mountain View, California, noticed traffic backing up behind the prototype vehicle, which was traveling 24 mph in a 35 mph zone, the force said.


Realizing it was a Google self-driving car, the cop decided to pull it over "and made contact with the operators to learn more about how the car was choosing speeds along certain roadways and to educate the operators about impeding traffic," the police department said in a blog post.

There was no driver to ticket, so the officer talked to the, presumably, hapless and embarrassed human in the passenger seat. (NBC news) This is the first law-breaking driverless car - or, the first one to get caught. 

Hey, I wish drivers would get pulled over in my town for driving 10mph under the speed limit! 

Uhhh.... does the car automatically pull over when a cop flips on the lights/siren? 

I wondered the same thing. There was a passenger, I suppose monitoring such things, so maybe he's the one who pulled over. I'm confused about (1) how driverless cars will be of any benefit to anyone, (2) how they will avoid making everyone else crazy, thus (3) how often they will become road-rage magnets. So far, they are being tested in relatively savvy and genteel places like Mountain View...
