I witnessed something less than an hour ago. A large fireball burning up in the sky. Haven't been able to find out what it was yet. I caught it on my cell phone: It was towards the west (from 29 Palms, CA.). Will post info when I find any. (I don't have TV & local radio is.... well, not exactly big city media.)

Could this be part of the Taurid Fireballs Event, going on through November 10? Sky and TelescopeNo, it couldn't. Not even if I hadn't found the answer already. Meteor showers look very different from what I saw. Meteor showers don't leave big clouds like this. A HUGE meteor could have looked like this, but it's extremely rare as part of a known shower like the Taurids.
