I found this image on Google earth earlier this year and tried to get opinion from authorities in my country (Indonesia) and Malaysia, but got nothing at all in return! Anybody here in this forum can give an idea of this pic? isn't this Malaysian Airlines' lost (or even laser shot?) MH370??? here is the coordinate Lat -8.516293° Long 118.396479°

For several reasons, I have to think this is not Flight MH370:
- The imagery is dated 9/20/13.
- The location and direction of travel are far removed from any supposed last known location.
- The false color ghost image indicates that the plane was in motion when the photo was taken, not some kind of laser attack.
- The authorities conducting the search would, it seems to me, have already carefully scanned any and all satellite imagery taken near the time of the disappearance. It is highly unlikely that they would have passed over any relevant imagery available in Google Earth.

Hi there This Aircraft is in flight and will be added to the All Aircraft in Flight collection in due course See This Post which explains the effect you see in the Google Earth Imagery.

There isn't a con-trail with this either. Man it looks crashed to me, but I'll believe you experts on this.

Hi, Chuckster, Again, you've found an aircraft in flight, travelling at quite a speed, judging by the distance from the motion ghost to the aircraft. Lack of a contrail simply means that the aircraft is flying low, so it's not cold enough to condense the hot water vapour from the aircraft engines. Depending on climatic conditions, you need to be at around 25,000 feet before the aircraft starts contrailling, sometimes higher. Another clue is to use the ruler on the menu bar. The length of the Boeing 777 ER-200 - like MH370 - is a little over 200 feet, with a wingspan of almost exactly 200 feet - it's a big jet. This is a much smaller short-haul airliner, measuring around 100 feet in length and about the same wingspan. I'd guess at a Boeing 737-100 or -200 of Sriwijaya Air on a domestic flight, hence the fairly low altitude. Image courtesy planespotters.nerdCheers, Frank
