Place Marks Future?

Since the recent closure of the old Community Forum, I wonder what will happen to place marks in the future?  Will the old place marks for "Google Earth Community" be dropped in future versions of "Google Earth?"  

For the near future, and probably further on, the latest scrape will remain as the archive. I hope the oGEC forum and the GEC layer stick around for a very long time as they can be very useful references. But all things change, so there is no guarantee of immortality.

So, 3 months after input to the old Google Earth Community was locked, have you given up hope that Google will make good on its promise to publish a last-and-final Google Earth Community Layer?
