The purplish color most likely has nothing to do with a nuclear leak near what looks like a possible target area or aircraft boneyard. Do you have any specific links about exactly where the test area was. The best I can find is that the project was at/near the Base at Cachimbo. The test site is most likely about 25 km to the NNW.
