I knew that runways were often painted in an attempt to disguise them. Here is a good example with the runways, perimeter tracks and dispersal pens camouflaged. I wonder what this looked like in colour! (The date-stamp on this picture is most certainly incorrect. At the beginning of 1945 Air-Sea Rescue was using this field, the X's at the ends of the runways indicate that they are not in use.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beccles_Airport
