I'm a PADI scuba instructor, and I catalog lots of diving sites, wreck points and so on. When doing so, for every pinpoint I can choose any of the standard icons provided with GE, or to choose a personalized one from my hard disk.
The problem is that these icons have to be at the same location forever, and furthermore, if I send a kml / kmz to any friend, he must have the same icon at the same hard disk place.
The simple solution would be that Google incorporated new icons as standard, as some of them (for example the scuba flag) are widely used.
I've made two of them, the dive site and the dive center icons.
How can I submit to Google Earth responsibles for evaluation and (if they decide) to be incorporated in the program as standard?
Many thx, and greetings from the beautiful Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

Hi Pepe, welcome to the nGEC. I reckon the quickest way to pass your request on would be for you to post it in the " Suggest a new feature or share feedback " catagory of the Maps and Google Earth Help forums. Click here to go straight to the forum. Cheers and good luck

Hola pepemanolo1809, There is a way to do what you want. Assuming your icons are in png, bmp or jpg format and an appropriate size [~256 pixels works well], you can upload them to an online photo storage site like Flickr or Photobucket. Open the icon you want to use and copy the URL link. With the placemark properties dialog open, click on the marker button at the right of the Title field. At the bottom of the dialog box that opens there is a button > "Add custom Icon..." >paste the URL in the field and click OK. You should see your new icon at the bottom of the icon list. Select your new icon and click OK, the new icon should then show. You may have to redesign to keep the Title text from covering your icon. There are also many Free downloadable Scuba Icons also available online, Just Google "Free Scuba Icon". Being kept in an online image storage site should make the icon available as long as the user you've shared the kml/kmz with is online. Hope this helps...it may take some experimentation to get just exactly what you want. Good Luck and Good Hunting, B66 PS.- Questions like this should really be posted on the Google Maps/Earth Forum. The Google Earth Community site is not a Google Site just a simple forum of users that occasionally have information one might need!

Thanks to both for redirecting me to the correct place to post.
Barnstormer66, what you explain is just what I do but locally. I designed the icons and both work well in measures and aspect. What I really wanted is to make them available as "standard" if the GE team accept them, because of availability and some online service's bandwidth/image use limits.
Many thanks, dudes.
