NBCNews. A sightseeing plane went down today east of Ketchikan, Alaska, on Thursday at about 6 p.m. local time. The plane was found on a granite rock face about 800 feet above Ella Lake. The cause of the crash is not yet known, but weather conditions were heavily overcast all day. Bodies could not be recovered due to bad weather and until next of kin is notified the names of the deceased will not be released.
