I am struggling to install Google Earth and hope that someone can help me.
I used to have it but for some reason it just vanished. No I did not uninstall it.
So I downloaded it and tried to install but everytime I get an error message with a code 1603.
I have done a little searching and see that it is becasue I already have iot installed, apparently. But I don't. It is not in my Start menu or Add/Remove Programs. I have rebooted but still get same.
I went to regedit and searched for Google Earth and after about 2 hours I finally removed everything.
I rebooted and tried to install, but no, same message.
Can anyone please help!?

You'd probably be better off asking a question like this at the Google Earth Help Forum ( productforums.google.com/forum/#!topicsearchin/maps/category$3Agoogle-earth%7Csort:relevance%7Cspell:false ). While some of the experts there are also members here, most of us here are merely enthusiastic GE users, and it sounds like you have a serious problem. If you ask over there, repeat the information you have provided here, but also tell them as much as you can about your computer system, because problems are sometimes platform related.

Hi ultimatetrumps, Sorry you are having those problems. The newest version of Google Earth is doing "silent installs" which removes the old desktop icon and never tells you the installation is successful. Then calls a 1603 error if you try to reinstall. This is a known bug. Your best bet is to repost this on the official Google Earth/Maps Help Forum and make sure you tell them if you are trying to install Regular Google Earth or Google Earth Pro which is now free and what operating system and version you use. I don't think I've heard getting a 1603 error on regular Google Earth, only on Pro, this may be new since they are actively trying to remediate the problem with Pro and may have changed something. Since you have altered your registry and we are mostly just regular users here; I will leave to the better experts on the Help Forum to assist. It may be as simple as deinstalling GE and trying a fresh install knowing it will not tell you when it is done. You will have to find the .exe folder yourself and create a desktop Icon [the current workaround]. Good Luck & Good Hunting B66

You may also want to use the option to install GE 7.0xxx. That works reliably for everyone. I use it myself because while 7.1 installs for me, I can not download any kmz's from anywhere on the web to it. I think it still needs some work.
