In May 2015 a group of eight skiers completed the crossing of Greenland, a 350 mile/ 565 kilometer trip across the icecap from Kangerlussauq on the west coast to Isortoq on the east coast. The trip took 24 days to complete and we made 21 camps on the ice along the way. Attached is Greenland 2015 CampsRoute.kmz (6.14 KB) which correctly locates all the camps and shows the route we took from start to finish. Many thanks to Chris Solheim-Allen for sharing his GPS waypoints. A full description of the trip will be posted on the www.tpdougherty.com website.

a great journey indeed, and must need determination and skill; why don't you put up some pictures here.

Welcome, tpdjr. This would be a great place to share your pictures and observations. For instance how much melt-water did you find on top of the glacier? Certainly in July and August of many years (using default as well as historical imagery) it appears the icecap is full of ponds and streams. I guess that would be a good reason to make your crossing in early May.
