well, hhgygy, are you right now visiting that country?! Only virtually, regretfully. But I hope to go there some day.

CLUE Instead of an amphitheather, I should call it a natural circus The very first time I saw the image I checked the wiki article about that type of places. They have a list there I checked half a dozen of them, then thought I wouldn't find it without the name of the country which I cannot guess from the image... I was kind of hoping the clue would be about that.

As I told you in a PM, when I saw the OP I knew it was a cirque and went to that same wiki page, tried a few cirques, gave up. They don't have this one in their list, unless I missed it. I didn't find any other list of cirques. How could I have found it, and how did the others find it (if they didn't already know the place)?

I don't know about the others and I know that Google returns different results to different people but for me "cirque naturel" gives images in which the solution is among the first five images and very similar to the OP so instantly recognizable.

Damn. Third image. I didn't even try GI and stuck with Wiki, maybe because I didn't think of using "naturel" with GI, and since "cirque" means "circus" in French, I was going to get a lot of circus images...
