Hi Google Earth Community
I know you already have posted some guidelines, some/most I have read, but may have missed some or can't remember. So please refresh or confirm me on a few basics.
1) Before posting some new GE files I've made, I plan to re-post a series of my o(ld)GEC posts here in the new. Is that okay with you? I think so (hope so), since I already see this being done by some of the great members of this and the oGEC.
2) Just like I asked in one of my first posts at the oGEC many years ago, I would like to know how you have built and prefer the usage of the (sub) forums. Should I always initially post in "Earth Browsing" and then you will move post as you evaluate it?
3) Or should I take a choice of one of the forums in the categories like Earth, Civilization, Off world etc.?
By the way - Thanks to those who have made a huge effort building this new GEC and letting us go on posting old and new, most importantly having the ability to keep it updated. Tom

Hi Tom. Great to see you again. I'm fairly certain that the MOD's would concur that an attempt to post in the most relevant category would be preferable to dumping everything into one less relevant forum. I'd say that a large majority of those who post to a particular sub-forum as per post content choose the right one. Less load on the staff is always helpful. I do share your question of re-posting old GEC content, as if and when I lower the gear and stick around a bit I may also wish to refresh and reset a few old threads I've created. I am assuming that it's simply a matter of removing the blue i from the old forums to accommodate the new to avoid dupes, but I (we) would like to know the etiquette beforehand.

Good'ay Tom, 1. Yep, no problems at all. 2. No need to post first up in an inappropriate forum so it can then be moved, go right ahead and post to the forum you think best. 3. Think we already answered that one. As far as rules go, this is it so far, the last line is probably the most important, Complications regarding duplications or double posting isn't an issue between old and new forums, the final scrape has been done on the oldGEC and and as far as we know what's there now stays in the frozen forum and layers database. At this stage there will be no layers scrapes from the new GEC unless some high powered negotiations take place to change that, it has been mentioned, but to tell you the truth I don't think there's much chance of it happening, at least in the near future. Now that the old GEC is frozen there doesn't seem to be many Google folk available for any development.

Thanks for clearing that up, NS. I wasn't aware (meaning it hadn't occurred to me) that posts here in the NGEC were not subject to layer scrapes. While that does solve some reposting issues, it obviously creates a whole set of new ones, however minor.

Just got an update on the scrape status, It hasn't actually been " done" as in completed, all the nuts and bolts have been tightened and work on performing it as a " clean " scrape is in the pipeline, clean meaning executing it in one clean sweep, (instead of an easier part by part deal) It doesn't really make any difference to us here as regards re-posting from oGEC to nGEC or creating new posts. Only thing that will happen is some little blue "i's " will appear, and some will disappear. ,,,, eventually, we think,,,,, Oh, and BTW PIT, Happy Birthday.
