This grand mansion was constructed in 1893. It was built for lawyer Britton Bath Osler as a refuge for his wife Caroline, who was in poor health. It was felt that the combination of fresh air and stunning views of Georgian Bay would prove beneficial to her. She unfortunately died in 1896, followed by Osler in 1901. A combination of time and bush parties have led it to a state of rack and ruin. (Canadian Content) Osler was the crown attorney in the Louis Riel trial of 1885. See photo. Osler Castle.kmz (994 B)
