This particle accelerator furthered the study of sub-atomic physics in the late 1930's. It employed a Van Der Graaf generator which could attain 5 million electronvolts. This energy targetted samples at the base of the tower. Basic civilian research was conducted here until 1940. It fell out of use after WW2 and it was demolished in 2015.
