Looking for a way to view recorded tracks (KML/KMZ) in GE/Terrain View.
When viewing recorded tracks in Google Earth/Satellite View, I change view mode to Terrain -but the visible Tracks disappear.
Is there a way to display tracks saved to "My Places" in Terrain View/Google Earth or Terrain View in Google Maps/Terrain View?
Thanks

Welcome to the GEC forums earthling2010.
You need to edit your track properties. In Places, right-click on your path icon, then choose Properties from the drop down menu, then Altitude>Clamped to Ground. As long as you are there experiment with the different settings to see the way they display your track.

Thanks Hill. But I don't get "Properties" when right-clicking on track icon (or name, or any part of the track). I am on a Mac, so perhaps that option is not available?
thanks
Using: Google Earth Pro 7.1.4.1529

HERE are some ways to right-click with a Mac. I know lots of people use Macs with GE, but I don't.

Hi, it should be "Get info" on a Mac, rather than "Properties". I've no idea why they decided to give it a different name on different operating systems!

Thanks all. Yes, I can access "Properties" via get info. Tracks actually default to "Clamped to ground" in properties. But the tracks are still not displayed when I toggle view to "Google Maps". Also, the zoom factor changes, so I can't simply create screenshots of the Satellite View at the same zoom factor as the Maps view.
The goal here is to display accurate tracks in Google Maps view. My online searches indicate that this feature is no longer available in current Google Maps. Seems like a counter productive deletion.
Also, I'm not option to display Terrain in Google Earth Pro. This was an option in earlier iterations of GE, but somehow I'm not seeing the option currently.
thanks again

You should see a box for Terrain as the last item in Layers at lower left on the viewer page.

When you choose the "View in Google Maps" option, you only see the map area, not any placemarks or tracks. It's just a way to view the same area in Google Maps. You could save your file as a kmz file (right click and "save place as"), then import the kmz into My Maps. Or convert the gpx to csv (try GPS Visualizer) and import the csv to My Maps. In My Maps you can change the base map to "terrain". My Maps help is here. "Terrain" means something different in Google Earth and in Google Maps. In Google Earth it means 3D. If you have Google Earth Pro, "terrain" needs to be on or the earth is flat. In Google Maps terrain is a display option to show contours. We'll always try to help if we can, but we are not affiliated with Google. The official help forum is here.

To get your tracks into Google Maps from Google Earth.... In Google Earth save your GPS tracks as a KML file not KMZ Open My Maps and Create a New Map. Choose Import - and Import your saved *.KML file This should now show your GPS tracks on Google/com/maps Image is just a Random sample from my Google Earth transferred to Google Maps as above. EDIT Mode.. Oh I see Noisette has given you the same Option . It seems you can use KMZ files but I don't see that on my Create New (But KMZ does work as well ) :-)

KMZ is now the default export file even though the menu shows KML. B66
