Cinema Rex V-2 Disaster.

On 16 December, at 15:20,1944, a V-2 rocket landed directly on the roof of the 'Rex' cinema. 567 people were killed (296 of them Allied servicemen) and 291 were injured. 'The Plainsman' ('de Milel') was playing. The theatre was re-built in 1947 but demolished in 1995. It is often forgotten that Antwerp suffered more V-2 strikes (1,610) than London (517).
