SS Solahutte - R & R for Auschwitz staff.

Solahut was a country resort built and partially staffed by Auschwitz prisoners and guarded by the SS. This facility (actually a tiny sub-camp of Auschitz-Birkenau) is 30 km south of the main camp and camp oersonnel were taken there by bus for week-end holidays. The camp-site sits in the hillside overlooking the lake. The time-slider 2009 view shows the main building (later demolished) which appears in the Hocker Album photographs. By 2021 the majority of the former camp buildings appear to be abandoned and roofless.
