I joined the forum here for the express purpose of asking about this.
There was an earthquake and tsunami that struck NE Japan in March, 2011. The Fukushima nuclear power plant was badly damaged. Over the years since then, the plant has been deactivated and hundreds of tanks were brought in to contain radioactive contaminated water. I put a yellow map tack on this site back in 2011. The other night, I went back to look at it again. No tanks were visible. I looked at the various "updated" views since 2011. Then I looked at photos of the site shown elsewhere on the internet. My conclusion is that Google Earth has not updated this location with real time images since before 2011. The images of the area have been "updated," but with pictures taken prior to 2011. None of the Google Earth images show the hundreds of water tanks, various ponds, decommissioned and dismantled buildings, etc. I'm not looking for a conspiracy here, but could it be that the Japanese government or TEPCO have asked or compelled Google to continue posting outdated images intentionally?
Note. I've been using Google Earth Pro. Which shows real time updates for places like NE Japan mudslide damage in 2022, and destroyed cities in Ukraine like Mariupol since 2022. I've looked at the images on the web version of Google Earth and it shows the same pre-2011 images of Fukushima as the Pro version.

Okay, I've been talking with my son about this. He's more computer savvy than I am. Way more. I've been using the Pro version of GE, which from what he tells me has fallen into a state of neglect. He suggested that I try the Web version of GE, which I've just been exploring. A relatively current image of the Fukushima power plant shows on the Web version. Which is all well and good, but it still doesn't explain why many things are up to date on the Pro version but not the Fukushima plant.

I can not confirm. I can see the tanks and damaged buildings. (GE Pro; 37.418651° 141.029150°; Image from 11/9/2022)
