have bumped into this article from 2011. on livescience.com and was glad to see KenGrok did not put a mark to this one.
of course I recommend to check their oGEC posting about Neolithic sites in Arabia and East Africa.
later I have frequently GE revisited this vast volcanic field and continued to mark further sites, that have not yet been shared by others, (I mean two members who shared kmz collections on this subject: KenGrok and archaeo)
so as downloading attached kmz, besides the thread starter "Thousands of tombs in the Saudi desert" placemark, one will also find placemarks for all of My additions to Ken's and archaeo's collections.
my special favorites of this update:
this "gem-ring" or "eclipse" like (as far as I think) burial structure:
and this -I believe artificial- one, recalls the shape of a camel: (nothing in GE layers and as per my search, still I have the feeling that I have already seen it before... anyone else?)
some similar design with bears at Effigy Mounds National Monument in Iowa.
