Hi to all!
I am from Milan, Italy, born in 1969 and living here since then.
I seem to remember that I was in the old server with a name like pey, pey01 or something like that.
Since 2019/2020 I ceased to use Google Earth and I begun using ARCGIS.
That's because my personal interest is Military History, specifically World War Two (German Units), and I helped organising the info on German units for the very interesting web map at www.project44.ca
I suggest everybody to look into the web map (especially for Canadian units!), to see the potentialities of their interpretation of HGIS.
One thing that made me sad in the last years, was looking at Google Earth development being left apart by Google, as I dreamed about it as a Military History support since 2005!
I never shared too much here, but I'm ready to upload some things of the material I used to study WWII with GoogleEarth.
As an history fan, what I feel missing (also here in the forum) is the chronological order of events.
In the "Military" thread for example you find Ancient Roman Forts, military planes flying around, Medieval Castles, WWI trenches and WWII installations, all together!
I understand that someone should take the weight of categorizing the posts, but this would make them more usable for history geeks like me!
Maybe I simply did not find it, but another thing I miss is having one "GooglEarth Time Machine" filtering time with a slider bar.
I dream about a time machine showing ancient buildings, ancient roads, and hiding new highways when displaying the past.
I have many ideas to share and hope to generate some confronting in this forum.
Sorry for bothering you so much, but I really like GoogleEarth and its potentialities!
All the Best
Federico
