i'd say, the most recognizable places should be #3 & #4, because those buildings are pretty well known in the world of architecture (and GEC explorers)

for instance, our dear friend CuriousJM made a puzzle about some sculpture that is located at #3, it was in the spring of 2018

those should lead to a pretty big port (see #9) ...think of #5 too

#1 is a zoo, #7 a high school/university where there is a plane (see hhgygy's post), #8 is located NE of #9 (about 10 km)
 

entrance of #6 has already been made as a puzzle @ proboard + its drink is very "well known" (and appreciated at least by our friend Utapao and me )
