I read about plans to erect a statue of this man at this location. To be honest, I don’t think it will be realized. This must be the first puzzle about a non-existing statue.
SV image of the site please.

proud of myself today! i did not even check if bridgeplayer 's first image was reverse-found! i just thought, who can that be with such things in his hands! first try, bingo! then i found the statue itself (in the red square: not non-existing indeed ) (yellow square: another pic you can find on the internet) of course, this second capture can be a bonus puzzle!

It certainly can. I think it’s harder to solve than the original puzzle. Nice find! And yes, “non-existing” was sloppy. It’s of course only non-existing at that particular location, and even that may change. I’ve never got to liking his work, although I’ve really tried, but he’s an interesting (and conflicted) character and a tremendous influence on some authors who wrote better than he did.

Well done all. As you can see in krenek’s bonus puzzle, the statue has already been made. I haven’t managed to solve this puzzle; kudos to raven63. The answer: This is the site where a statue of the horror writer H. P. Lovecraft (1890-1937) will be placed if a number of HPL aficionados get their way. It’s in Lovecraft’s home town Providence, Rhode Island. 41.8269°N, 71.4102°W
