According to legend, in Virginia City, Nevada, the Suicide Table was somehow responsible for the death of three individuals who took possession of it. It's an old Faro bank table from the 1860s, and the curse is directly related to gambling. Each of the deceased has also lost considerable sums of money. Two of the victims are said to have killed themselves, but one of them may have been killed. Currently, the Suicide Table has a home in the Delta Saloon.

While cruising around on SV in my hometown, I was shocked to find this creepy and hilarious sign: I even searched for an actual crime there in that year, but nothing... ![]()

Folkstone, UK. Elderly People, who apparently allow infants in the neighborhood. Brixton, UK. I like the gentle suggestion. The American version would be blunt, something like "Compact cars only". Wrangell, Alaska, USA. The menu... Bronx, NYC, across the street from the Bronx Zoo. New York is notorious for its bedbug problem. Other cities have them, too, but NY seems to be the most talked-about. In case you need them: bedbugking.com! LINS MARLBORO 99 up CENTS INC. An elaborately named corporation in Chinatown, New York.

Well, this didn't work, did it? A few birds: Klamath Falls, Oregon Plasti-duk, original version. The new one is professionally painted and doesn't even look like a decoy. New Plasti-Duk signPelican atop KFC, Brixton, UK Some confusion as to what's on the menu? Murderous looking egret in Kinston, N. Carolina.

The least "uncommon" signs are Coca Cola ones, but the sheer number of them everywhere on the globe is impressive. So, here are a few in my collection: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico Zaporozhye, Ukraine. Dakar, Senegal. I once drank a warm Coke in hot, humid Dakar. It wasn't delicious that way. Good news...I finally found my boat! It's in Roxas City, Philippines.

Yes, bombs are fine, also poison gas and flame-throwers. In certain regions of the USA, you will see the no guns sign. There's one on the door of the medical clinic I use. I was shocked to see it when I moved back here after many years in a...well...a different kind of region.

Oamaru, New Zealand. A real sign, not a joke. The little penguin (Eudyptula minor, in the Māori language they are called Kororā.) Is the smallest penguin species and can be found in New Zealand. But only in the dark, as they usually only come ashore at night.
