ET, there is a very good chance that spider has enabled the Google Earth Community Layer, on many occasions, whilst compiling his collection of Big Ships. Did you know that THIS POST by nlfuchs1990 is an accepted collection in the Transportation forum on the oGEC that dates back to 2012 ? (download the attached file and see for yourself the similarities ) Did you also know that the same nlfuchs1990 who created that collection has registered here on the nGEC as username " spiderx22 ", ?, (yep, same person) and he has simply re-posted his own collection here on the nGEC under his new username. In fact, spiders contribution here is OK and quite welcomed. So, have you contacted the other 10 posters that placemarked the same Aircraft Carrier on the oGEC and asked them the same question ? (oh, BTW, there was actually one there that posted one year before the one you pointed out ) So please, what is your problem ? or do you now feel like it would be a good idea to edit your reply ? Bryan, you've been given another chance here Mate, please don't go and screw it up by questioning and offending our members. You can leave that up to us !

Thanks nostranger! <3
Yea, I changed usernames on this forum (forgot the password on my SpiderX22 username on the old forum ;p)
I was always bad at using the GEC layer icons, but tried to give credit for finds when I could. There's only so many places ships can be though, so if I'm finding the ships by myself, I'll credit myself.

Speaking of cruise ships, I've added quite a lot recently. Went through all the cruise ports of the world and identified all the cruise ship finds I could. Two super useful websites I used: www.whatsinport.com/ has a map of exactly where the cruise terminal is within a location and ports.cruisett.com/ lists what ships went to what port when. 195 new ships 8/17/2015

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this pandemic! I've certainly acquired a lot of free time during this...so here's an update. Not much in the way of imagery updates, but I cleaned up the historical imagery and kept only specifically id-ed ships, and identified a whole bunch of container ship classes.
Version 6.4 (4.8.2020) • 123 new ships • +49 Bulk Carriers • +56 Container Ships • +4 Cruise Ships • +3 FPSO • +1 LNG/LPG Carriers • +1 RoRo • +1 Shipbreaking • +8 Tankers

7 months into this pandemic - still hope everyone is doing well! Lots of imagery updates, including a bunch of cruise ships being quarantined, but also two organizational changes: container ships are now sorted by ship classes and cruise ships by cruise company. Also, I can't believe that after 12 years of updating this collection that I never had imagery dates included before! I've added them now, which'll make updating and viewing much easier (in case of new imagery). This collection is now officially older than the students I teach: I feel old! This'll be my last update (for this collection) for awhile; next update probably in late Spring or Summer 2021. See y'all then! Version 7.0 (11.16.2020) • 375 new ships • +4 Aircraft Carriers • +84 Bulk Carriers • +174 Container Ships • +27 Cruise Ships • +7 FPSO • +37 LNG/LPG Carriers • +1 Pipelayer • +1 RoRo • +1 Shipbreaking • +39 Tankers

Okay a bit of a retcon from before - I'm only adding dates to finds that I plan to keep - which is any named ship. Update a little earlier than anticipated, as I had some free time. Next update probably in late Fall or early Winter 2021. See y'all then!
Version 7.1 (4.13.2021) • 298 new ships • +1 Aircraft Carrier • +53 Bulk Carriers • +106 Container Ships • +29 Cruise Ships • +8 FPSO • +27 LNG/LPG Carriers • +1 Pipelayer • +3 RoRo • +7 Shipbreaking • +63 Tankers

Life's gotten a bit busier for me as I've grown older, so I'm changing the update schedule for this collection to once a year (Late Summer/Early Fall). Next update will be ~September 2022: see you then!

After a little over a year - here's a new release! A couple major changes this time around, with a focus on speeding up updates in the future. • The entire collection is converted to (only) metric units) • Minimum ship length changed from 950ft (~290m) to 300m. This sadly removes the entire categories of RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off), Strategic Sealift Ships, and Crane Vessels. I'll probably release collections of these separately in the future. • Historical imagery is no longer in subfolders but within it's own main folder. • Container ships are no longer split up by classes, as there's too many similar classes and it takes forever to categorize them all • Ships are no longer separated by 100ft subcategories, instead all ships of the same type (e.g. tanker) are lumped into one folder
Version 8.0 (9.26.2022) • 262 new ships • +7 Aircraft Carriers • +25 Bulk Carriers • +158 Container Ships • +27 Cruise Ships • +8 FPSO • +2 Lake Freighters • +2 LNG/LPG Carriers • +33 Tankers
Edit: literally an hour after I release this, Long Beach CA gets new imagery. 19 new container ships there! Updated.
