I have some comment to this: Some time ago there was a puzzle here by bridgeplayer called Doctor sows poppiesIt was connected to a film titled Dokter Pulder zaait papavers (1975) (1975) ☆ 👁 👁 Doctor Pulder Sows Poppies I thought this Doctor Pulder cultivated poppies for poppy-seed or for drugs but then I watched the film and to my surprise he cultivated these red flower poppies. Why it is surprising to me is that this is a very common flower in the fields and also in urban environments in Hungary and grows anywhere and everywhere but I never heard about anybody growing it.

I forgot the details of the plot, but Wikipedia (Dutch) has a helpful summary. The relevant part amounts to the following:
Mrs. Mies, Hans van Inge Lidaerd’s widow, tells Pulder that she and Hans, after failing to kick their morphine habit, decided to commit suicide painlessly together by ingesting some deadly brew, made from poppies. But Hans died before they could even plant the seeds. Now Pulder suggests to carry out the plan with him, as a tribute to Hans.

I suppose the popp iey (klaproos) is a common plant in the Netherlands as well, but maybe not in the environs of Blokzijl.

Yeah I just read it with Google Translate as I checked back, I saw the film in February 2016, so I did not remember the plot.
