Well done Utapao and Krenek! I've been so focused on other things I was unaware of this incident. I understand. It is because I visited the place that it captured my attention. Another clue: One of the creatures that is endemic for the place and that the locals are trying to save:

Well done Lockhopper also! It is indeed very quiet around here these days. The answer: The Japanese cargo ship MV Wakashio hit a coral reef on the southeast coast of Mauritius on July 25. Then, the ship began leaking. The Blue Dot is on the Ile aux Aigrettes. This Island is very important both for fauna as flora. A lot of work has been done in the past years to restore the original vegetation. Some special plants and trees are already moved to the main island now in an attempt to save them. There are a lot of endemic or rare animals to be saved also: The Telfair Skink (clue), the rare Pink Pigeon, turtles, etc .. Local people are desperately trying to control the oil spill with self-made barriers, made from sugar cane leaves and even human hair. See videoI had the chance to visit this island in 2016 at the end of our trip in the region to watch the Annular Solar Eclipse. In the picture you can see the stranded ship (in the green circle) and the threatened island.
