Time or another clue; When krenek had made his Post Mapcrunch image #2 Kenya, I searched for Samburu Kenya in GM (not GE) and landed in the region shown below. The zebras can be found about 72.5 km from this spot. Note: The image has been created from GE as I couldn't get the placemarker in GM. It vanishes when I turn off the labels.

thanks for the clue! now i understand why!!! + your little map in the capture in the OP is tricky! the problem is really google, everyday worse i visited that area but (1) it's so big and (2) i never saw your mountains in the background (or maybe from another angle), sigh!...

Well done Walter. Here is another and final clue for others who are still searching for Samburu, Kenya. The Dazzle of Zebras can be found at a borehole (red marker) in the map below. This region is within 150 km of Kenya's Second largest city.

your little map in the capture in the OP is tricky! what i meant by "tricky" is this: in your capture, the blue path looks "normal" but in fact it's a very small track, like 30 m long that area is full of 10s (if not 100s) of such very very short tracks!
it made it impossible to find but your aerial capture made it ok, phew!...
