The Fire Festival was a luxury music festival proposed by promoter Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule, to take place initially on Norman's Cay and later on Great Exuma. It was schedulled for April 27-28, 2017 and approximately 400 folks attended only to find their 'villas' were FEMA tents, with no running water, food or medical facilities. Other than a local band, no musical groups appeared either. The 'gourmet' food turned out to be a cheese sandwich in a plastic container. McFarland is currently serving 6 years in prison for wire fraud. My interest in this debacle was sparked by an excellent Netflix documentary on the subject. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fyre_Festival
