hi all! I need your expertise again! ... tsokay, that big-step field survey took place some 3 kilometers SW of my mark (survey-lines clearly visible on GE), however not clear, what are these remote two cut scars (as if somethings would have been dug deep underground) and other line of cca. 3 meters wide, rectangular dots (similar to tent positions) just below them? (smaller details only visible on BingMaps - check embed inside attached placemark's info bubble / click link below) BingMaps linkWhadda Taklimakan.kmz (3.24 KB) also two, remote water pits some 10 kilometers to S, at around >>38.710401, 79.594285<< (and probably ruins by one of these) other pond scar at >>38.67864, 79.719895<< and a square shaped next to it at >>38.674259, 79.739581<< other at >>38.583529, 79.748862<<, two more at >>38.544251, 79.745144<<, a lonely at >>38.319678, 79.777514<< (not exists on GE imagery!) to another direction you find a lonely at >>38.678874, 79.563141<< and many other more... e.g. at >>38.723269, 79.183582<<: placemarks added to kmz, use coordinates at BingMaps for better view.... afterall, I think now there are two questions: 1.: my orriginal scars and dots spotting 2.: all the other small water ponds all around - for who? for what? - probably this way they monitoring ground water levels? for what purpose then? thanks! g

Ah, the lines in a grid I saw were just artifacs of image stitching... (perhaps on purpose ? to help someone assess the picture for high res ? because of this man made feature , the road, and two tracks nearby, they wanted to be sure its the best ? )
Well, the pit is a win pit, to dig for material.. such as to build a road base or foundation of some structure. The two lines appear to be a pipe line.
