Transportation collections list

The military and transportation collections lists were originally created by ploppy and jtouran. I have simply copied the information from the old GEC and added any new links I found. There are links to the old Google affiliated GEC (oGEC) and, if the collection has been recreated here, to the new GEC (nGEC).  Please let me know if I've missed anything!  Also let me know if you create or recreate a new collection so that I can add it.

As before, there is some duplication of content where aircraft have both a civilian and a military background.

A lot of the files are fairly old, you may need to use the historical imagery in Google Earth.  Checking the date of the oGEC post (or the date it was last edited) may give you an idea of the date you need to look at in the historical imagery.  

Naturally, should ploppy or jtouran return, I'd be happy for them to take over these lists again.

Heads up that none of the oGEC links work anymore, they just go to a generic Google Help page

Sadly, that means no more access to 8/8 rail collections, 4/4 road collections, 7/8 water collections, 22/35 air collections, and 2/2 space collections: i.e. only 14 of 57 collections remain

I'll try to do some digging to see if I can find any of the original .kml/.kmz files to resurrect some of these.

Also, Google Earth now has a built in Shipwrecks layer (Under Ocean), but the visible shipwreck collection is still interesting (has lots of shipwrecks not in this layer, and specifically just ones you can see in GE).

Since this file is lost with old GEC, I've recreated it myself - see here: googleearthcommunity.proboards.com/thread/6465/visible-railway-turntables-google-earth

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, so if it's not, my apologies.

At one time, several (maybe about 10 or so) years ago, I saw a file that contained all the Marinas in the US. At the time, it didn't hold much interest for me, but for other reasons, now, it does.

Problem is, I can't find any such file now. And Marinas don't have a "place" category on GE that I can find anywhere. I see them all over rivers, lakes, and coastal areas in the US, but I don't see any way to highlight all of them, and they don't have any identifying information, so one couldn't contact them if needed.

Does anyone have any information, ideas, suggestions, or other help in finding such a thing as a Marina listing?

Honestly, unless someone saved the file on their hard drive and is willing to share, I doubt a lot of the old collections are coming back. Especially now that old Google Sites is gone...

The closest things I've found that relates is: World Ports: this collection is huge, there's like 40,000 placemarks in it.

Probably not what you want, sorry. Couldn't find anything. Sometimes google searching by looking for kml filetypes helps, but no such luck.
