The 19th century was the time of canal building. Here is a collection of transportation canals of which I am aware in my area of North America. One late-comer is included which was not started until the 20th century, by which time the railways had put canals out of the transportation business. Corrections and additions are most welcome! _________________________ 'Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat their mistakes.' - George Santayana 'You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.' - Leon Tolstoy (?)
