is that you Simon aka ekafeman on oGEC? than it is okay and welcome back old fellow! EDIT.2016.jun.02.generated by reply: so: welcome back old fellow!
and nothing more, forget all coming: (if not, then at least you should to give reference of the source! and best would be to remove the attachment and post only the additions, your individual findings. just have seen Simons file has been revived by moderator Hill as a locked, sticky-post in this cathegory, where he asks the same: "GEC members please check the attachment if you think you have a new possible crater and if it is not already covered here, post it on a new thread." nevermind, everyone started somehow as a newbie. keep your chin up!)
best and see you! g

It is I I don't have a laptop at the moment so there's a few teething problems with Google Earth iOS. But stay tuned for updates as I'm using Python choose (Pythonista 2.0) to format the database. This will shrink the size 20x and allow for easy updates moving forward.

The shape certainly looks like part of a crater rim. Not all crater-shaped objects are of meteoric origin and I guess the ability to penetrate the ice with radar was the clincher.

thanks new english word, now I can add to my personal vocabulary! (: well, it seems it was, and with the in-situ tectonic structure measurements and material sampling the story became round*. (*in hungarian "kerek történet" / "round story"; when someones' story needs some essential addition to can be comprehended well we say: "Hey, this story is still not round..., (now say, what you have missed!)" ) in this case the expression "round story" also fits visually if you look the crater rim!(:

G'day Simon! I have bumped into something in Algeria, which probably is a 700 meters diameter impact crater - not sure however; might it be some other, collapsed structure? (no GE layer info, also missing from your collection) No good resolution imagery on GE/GMaps so here I give link to ZoomEarth location and ZE screenshot of the feature: Also I attach kmz placemark for GE reference: possible impact crater Algeria.kmz (831 B) *** what do you think of this one?

It is very difficult to make a statement without knowing the actual geological structure. Only with the aerial photo as a source there is a risk of confusing them with ancient igneous intrusive rocks such as heavily eroded Laccoliths or Plutons. The Brandberg Mountains in Namibia are a striking example of a Pluton. Attachments:Brandberg.kmz (684 B)

of course, that is why I named file as "possible" impact crater, however I do not think is a pluton - it is relatively small... note, your example is 26 kilometers in diameter. *** EDIT: - Thanks for the 14th dust devil anyways! (;

Probable Laccoliths can also be much smaller. Compare to the Devil Tower (Wyoming). Maybe in millions of years he can only see a ring a few hundred meters in diameter. As I said, there is a risk of confusion.

... As I said, there is a risk of confusion. Agree. ...especially on high level, if it's me! (: - still I have thought it worth an asking around here.

Just now I have read this article by NASA EO about newly discovered crater in China. Checking database (also considering post dates) I have realized that this must be a new piece for ya! ( ; Yilan crater.kmz (1.25 KB)
