why2k's postcards reminded me of something. I am the proud owner of a collection of old stereo cards that I started in the 1990s. Those 3D cards were hugely popular in the 1900s. Everyone owned them. You needed a stereoscope to view them. They looked like these (I have both types): To view those 3D images today from a smartphone, there are Virtual Reality viewers now (for VR videos) where you can slide a smartphone in and you can view the 3D photo. Modern technology to view old technology! But the best way is still to use the real card in a real old age stereoscope. To learn more about stereo slides, here's the wiki page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StereoscopeIn my collection, there are also proper postcards, that you could send by mail. But the photo was stereoscopic, like in stereo cards. Some of them have been used, so there's a name and address. I started this collection before google maps, and I never thought to look for the places in the stereo cards! By the way, lots of them show actual places, buildings, monuments etc., but lots of them show every day life scenes, and sometimes stories with actors, and also historical reenactments and such. I have, for now, two puzzles based on two cards from my collection. #2 will be my next puzzle. Here is #1: The card: The SV: The whole balcony is very RIS so please post a small part of it. Based on several details from the stereo card I believe this is the same exact house. The balconies in the background are gone now. Good luck. Hint: this isn't New Orleans. Stereo #2 now available

Now I wonder where Stereo #2 can be 'near this place' dagger66 was referring to my Stereo#2 puzzle being "not too far' from his stereo#2 puzzle. Nothing to do with this one.
