Yeah, it was really like that. But not only for them, also for me!    I think the groups of trees identify the location unambiguously.  Here is a screenshot from the newsreel:  And here is the (I think) right spot on Google Streetview. Fortunately it is quite sharp although there are very blurry sections along this road, too. The only clue I had for this was the info that it was found 74 km south of Newman, WA.
But there is also a map showing the approximate location.
Also the lane marking indicates that it is in a bend of the road.

{ANSWER} A highly radiating capsule was lost on the way from the Rio Tinto PLC mine to Perth, WA sometime in mid-January. It was recovered only some 2 weeks later. Street View |
