Hello, I am urgently searching the place where the picture here was taken, after that, the battery of the phone was empty. Someone was lost there yesterday, person still missing. There is no GPS data available. It is in Lithuania, in a big park that is called Asvejos regioninis parkas. Can someone help me to situate the picture? Thank you

I don't understand the source of the image. Is it from a camera phone? Was the google maps image from the camera phone? Where did the person leave from (trailhead or town would be useful)?

That sure is it. Great work, krenek. Pretty amazing when you see the size of the park, outlined in green, in the screen capture.

Hello, Ok now we are fine. I will give the details now.
This female person was driving with a car and her sister somewhere, they were never before. And then they lost somewhere in the woods (no GPS, nothing) - they did not know where they were - they just remembered the name of the park. So the description was not good at all! Even if her handy got GPS, she did NOT send the GPS-Data (as maybe she did not know that Facebook eliminates this data on upload). So we only had this screenshot and a "help" (her younger sister has no mobile phone). Police was searching for 13 hours without success (it was already in the night) and the last thing she could do was sent this picture before battery was totally empty and whe could not contact her anymore. I searched her based on the picture - but the park is large. So she (and her sister) slept in the car (that was stuck in the mud in the forest, you see the place has no normal road!). After we tried to localize in the morning with the last known data of GSM-Phone-Cell information, rescue-troops started to search for them in the morning, but it was still a large area (there are not thousand of mobile-phone antennas in this area to restrict, actually only one!). When we had the exact GPS-data, we found the car - and 1 km away from this the two women searching for rescue (22 hours after they asked for help).
So I really have to say thank you very much - and I hope I can sometime help other people to rescue lives too. I dont know if the two sisters got enough money to contact you or simply say thank you, but they told me, that I should tell all of you, who helped to find them, a very very big and warm thank you for everything!
My best greetings to all of you, Laxx.

Asvegos Regional Park is 24km long , and 8km wide, on both sides of the lake formed by dam. The clues might have been the road through the bush, that seems to dip into a waterway gully, its in the gully area ... so go around the dam and look for gullies like that, where the bush is rugged, and yet there is a road. However the people in the car were 200 metres from the farmers cleared lands, dam, and farmers private road that leads to his house.. . Oh well, I guess at the time they were thinking "if stuck in the remote wilderness, dont leave the car". remote wilderness You can leave the car to go 200 metres to see if you can find signs of civilisation... if you are sure you can get back to the car upon failure. Often downstream is a way to go, but they knew it led to the dam, I guess, and its a large dam with no hope of seeing anything, and even if you did, how to get there ? So go uphill and have a look from the hilltop ?
