Here is an interesting part of Brazilian history that is lost to time - the 4 Litigated Zones. [ LINK ] I find it very odd that these regions of Brazil where very very poorly documented in English. Only 2 appear on any real world maps I can find. All 4 appear on the map of a game called "Super Power 2"

I may post more information here as I uncover it ... it is difficult finding relevant information in a language I am not able to read. One of the Litigated Zones ( the best known ) was a long standing state border dispute between Ceará and Piauí [ LINK ]
. . Notes: 2 more litigated zones where between ACRE / AMAZON and MATO GROSSO / PARÁ [ Image Link ] Currently attempting to verify the last one.

So you can see the very northern disputed area, near Granja, where the Piaui wants part of the the eastern state of Ciara, appears to be about the town of of Brejos dos Pachecos and area of Tucuns. There is a wikipedia page for the dispute between these two states. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cear%C3%A1-Piau%C3%AD_border_dispute

Ceara Piaui Dispute appear to be on going, but strides have been made toward the end. The process is the STF is more concerned about the humanity of the present situation, rather than the rights and wrongs that were there at the time of some past decision.. see www.meionorte.com/politica/litigio-peticao-do-piaui-nao-preve-indenizacao-ao-ceara-431213The text does mention that there number of residences affected may be in the 100.. Like, max 2000 people affected. Hence its hardly going to trigger in nearby newspapers, let alone reach english language news.

Acre and Amazonas appears to be the Boliva vs Peru vs Brazil national borders dispute, basically saying Acre isn't Brazil or anyway if Brazil lost the internation dispute , residual bits of Acre would go to Amazonas. ?? But its impossible to prove that there is no state border dispute, you need to prove there is. (where does the info come from ? )
Also, the 1903 treaty resolving the Acre dispute chopped up the area of Mato Grosso, ceding the south west area of it to Bolivia. So again I think the Mato Grosso is actually the Acre international dispute, which ended in 1903.
