1000TH POST - SUPERPUZZLE [hints][solution]

Hey! this is my post number 1000!
For this event I have prepared a very special puzzle.

I will post a picture of a place which impossible to find on its own. The only way, is to solve the crosswords puzzle and guess the special word in the middle.
The clues will be a bit different here. You can post a reply with the number of the word you need an hint of, and I will give an hint for all the words that were asked.

Edit: All the words are related to general world and countries knowledge, geography, geology, astronomy and such related sciencies.

Edit 2: I have re-checked all the answers and I noticed I made a slight mistake for the number 6:
The correct Island name is actually formed by two words. I accidentally designed the answer to be just the second word of its name, because unfortunately an Italian website where I got the information just mentioned that part of the name (don't worry the island is not in Italy, there's plenty of information in english language)
Example: if the Island was "Gran Canaria" (and it isn't), there would be only slots for "Canaria".

I have already 11 answers, but apparently not all correct because the resulting word ....

The resulting word is a strange sounding name (atleast to me), so it's hard to guess even if only 1 or 2 letters are missing, you need them all.
