The Boeing B-29 Superfortress(
Wiki) is an American four-engine heavy bomber from World War II and the Korean War.

B-29s dropped the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and remain the only aircraft that has ever used nuclear weapons in combat.
With the B-29's state-of-the-art pressurized cabin, dual-wheeled tricycle landing gear, and remote-controlled machine gun turrets, it was the most expensive program of WWII.
The B-29 remained in service through the 1950s in several support roles. The type was retired in the early 1960s. 3,970 of them were built.
The B-29 was on developed into the B-50, C-97 and B377 aircraft.
Of the 3,970 built, around 30 complete or partial aircraft remain today.
A good many of the aircraft on display were salvaged from United States Air Force and Navy bombing ranges in the 1970's.
Although I have tried to identify each airframe correctly, some of them are actually composites of several aircraft, such was the lack of complete airframes for the museums to use.
Also, some of them have sported more than one nickname during their lives. Hopefully I have them named for their current nose art.
I have also included 5 wrecks in the end of the collection.
All but one of these are identified. The unknown wreck at China Lake may be Here's Hopin' (44-70102 on c/n 10934).
The collection contains 24 complete aircraft (10 hidden) and the 5 wrecks.
There are at least 2 or 3 more partial aircraft on display around the world, but I don't have exact locations for them.
Although there are relatively few B-50 survivors, I have chosen to make a separate collection for those aircraft.
Anyone knows of any examples I've missed, please reply or DM me.
Cheers,
Sean.
