Oakley Court (1859) had a lengthy series of owners and, during WW2, was a centre for the French Resistance in England. (Charles De Gaulle is reputed to have stayed here during the war). After the war Hammer films took it over as a filming centre for a series of horror films. In 1975 it stood in as Dr. Frank-N.-Furter's castle in the film 'Rocky Horror Picture Show'. Subsequently it has become a luxury hotel. RHPS went on to cult film status and is now the longest running theatrical release of a film. The film has been selected for preservation by the United States National Film Registry as 'culturally, historically or aesthetically significant'. No street view but some good photos. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rocky_Horror_Picture_Showen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oakley_CourtRocky Horror Picture Show.kmz (1.16 KB)
