... well, in a way. 

GM/GE. Please don't show the landmark there, it's RISearchable. Not that this will be hard to find otherwise.

I visited the landmark here 25 years before this place "disappeared."

google maps presents a lot of problems those days

for instance, activation of the SV blue paths does work and suddenly does not work anymore

new problem: satellite images in GM: it was possible to disable all names, ads, etc. (so we could capture a nice and relevant satellite image), right now it's impossible ...only me?!

I wonder if it has been caused by the Google Earth "time lapse" update.  I have no idea how GE/GM are "linked"...if they are", but my disappearing SV lines and blue dots began when the GE announcement was released.  

Google says Google Earth is getting its biggest update since 2017

The names/places issue drives me crazy.  Also, the 'experience bar' at the bottom of the map showing things in the area...sometimes it does not go away, which greatly reduced the map display area.

And even Google word search has become a pain.


I am NOT a fan of Maps on the PC.

I use Google Maps on my PC almost exclusively.  For the last few days I could not get the Blue Lined streets or Blue Dots to show up on my maps.  Cleared cache, and the blue lines and dots popped up for a short few seconds, then disappeared again totally.  I had a recent Windows 10 Update right before this happened.  The Blue Lines and Dots reappeared this morning.  I was wondering if the Windows Update caused a problem for Google Maps street and dot overlays and it took Google time to resolve it.  Not sure, just guessing based on what events occurred with my PC.

You don't need to be on Facebook to use it as one of the keywords.

Well done to those who got it.     "Getting it" isn't always the hardest part. You can instantly know what the puzzle is about and not find the place. I know I can.

{Spoiler}Bitche, a town in north-east France , which "disappeared" (in a way, as I said in the OP), because the Facebook algorythm didn't like its name. Like the article says, the town was liberated in WW2 by allied soldiers who call themselves "the sons of Bitche" (Google will show photos of celebrations of those men) and it is also famous for its citadel.
